Less Logistics, Lower
Cost and Emissions
Reducing logistical demand through lower consumption.
Logistical Challenges Drive Up Cost and Emissions, and Can Delay Operations
Logistical challenges derive from the volume and number of shipments, distance from base to rig, weather conditions, vessel availability and rig capacity. Frequent shipments add cost and emissions.

Re-use Fluid System and Reduce Cement and Chemical Consumption
Avoiding “Pump and Dump” on top-holes greatly saves on chemical consumption and logistical demands. Not needing tripping fluid, cementing fluid and drilling fluid with MPD further reduces transportation needs further.
By combining sections, the number of casings/liners and cement jobs are reduced requiring less bulk to be shipped. The use of Managed Pressure Cementing can prevent the need for additional types of cement needed on location.
Zero discharge reduces consumption
By establishing a circulation system for the top-holes, a regular mud system can be used continuously instead of the “Pump and Dump” approach.
Combining Sections Requires Less Cement
Whether combining sections using Dual Gradient Drilling on top-holes or benefiting from the Dual Gradient Effect for the intermediate sections there is one casing/liner less to cement.
Consistent Use of Same Cement Through MPC
For Managed Pressure Cementing of top-holes or with Controlled Mud Level for the rest of the well, standard type cement can be used removing the need for special blends to be shipped to location.
Lower Cost and Emissions by Simplifying Operations
Reduce the number of sections in the well and re-using the fluid for top hole drilling are win-win situations, reducing rig time, cost and emissions while making operations easier.
EC-Drill®
Fewer cement jobs, Managed Pressure Cementing and the Dual Gradient Effect
Managed Pressure Cementing with EC-Drill® enables use of standard type cement removing the need for additional types to be used on one well. EC-Drill® also uses one fluid system removing the need for multiple mud systems during MPD operations. The unique pressure profile created by the system allows sections to be combined.
Key Benefits:
- Combine sections
- Straightforward cementing
- Avoid displacements
RMR®
Enable circulating system and MPC of top-holes
Establishing a Dual Gradient Drilling solution not only addresses drilling challenges of top-holes but reduces consumption through the re-use of the fluid system. By combining top-hole sections there will be less cementing. The cementing itself can be used with standard slurries further reducing the transportation needs.
Key Benefits:
- Managed Pressure Cementing
- Combining sections
- Zero discharge
- Circulating system
