Top-Hole Section

Technologies
Help you drill faster, cleaner, and safer from day one — while protecting the environment and reducing risk in the most fragile part of the well.
Well Diagram - Intermediate Section

Intermediate section

Technologies
Helps you drill deeper with fewer casing strings, improved stability, and better safety — even in narrow pressure windows.

Reservoir and Completion

Technologies
Helps maximize production rates, protect the reservoir, and simplify completion — even in depleted zones or challenging formations.

Pushing the Surface Casing Deeper

Start the well by combining the first sections to simplify the well architecture while saving cost and time.

When the First Section is Cut Short

Instability challenges and shallow flow zones prevents the first section to be drilled longer with the use of seawater and sweeps. Ensuring zonal isolation and setting a good foundation of the well can be difficult when cementing longer sections because of going on losses before reaching seabed.

Extending or Removing Sections | Enhanced Drilling

Sort the Drilling Challenges With an Engineered Fluid and Manage the Pressure While Cementing

Drilling top-holes with returns to the rig allows the use of a drilling fluid with weighting materials and inhibitors for drilling longer sections. With Managed Pressure Cementing the annulus pressure is reduced during the cement job.

Enabling Longer Section to Be Drilled

Use a drilling fluid to address the challenges associated with top-holes. Inhibitors and weighting materials mitigate instability challenges and shallow flow zones, enabling longer sections to be drilled.

Enabling Longer Section to Be Cemented

Create a closed-loop circulation system so the annulus pressure can be reduced when cementing to get Top of Cement to Seabed.

Technologies

To overcome drilling instability and extend section lengths, we apply proven technologies designed to optimize well construction while minimizing environmental and operational risks.

RMR®

Take On Top-Holes With Dual Gradient Drilling

The Dual Gradient system allows a weighted drilling fluid designed for the specific formation challenges to be used. Logistic challenges and environmental concerns are also eliminated.

Key Benefits:

  • Primary barrier while drilling
  • Engineered fluid
  • Zero discharge

MPC®

Control the Annulus Pressure When Cementing

Lower the pressure in the annulus to manage the high ECD. Apply pressure when cement is setting to prevent channeling.

Key Benefits:

  • Prevent losses
  • Improve integrity
  • Cement longer sections
  • Enable use of standard cement
