Enhanced Drilling delivering CTS cuttings solution on Johan Sverdrup field

Enhanced Drilling has signed a multi-well deal to provide its CTS Cuttings Transportation System and services to the pre-drilled wells on the Johan Sverdrup field.

CTS, which has been used on more than 400 wells to date, will be used on the field which is located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

‘Expertise’

Enhanced Drilling’s Vice President for Europe, Svein Egil Steen, said: “We are delighted that Statoil has chosen to use Enhanced Drilling’s technology and services for the Johan Sverdrup field – one of the biggest oilfields on the NCS and one of Norway’s most important industrial endeavours.

“Since CTS was first deployed in 1997 for Statoil on the Gullfaks field, we have used it on more than 400 wells – all the time increasing our on-the-job know-how and refining the service. I’m pleased that Statoil has chosen to use our expertise again.”

Hazard removal

CTS enables operators to take cuttings, cement, mud, clay and other deposits away from the well area, keeping templates debris free. This helps projects stay on schedule by removing potential hazards – crucial when procedures such as laying pipes or tying in umbilicals are made on the drilling template. CTS has also had a major impact on the validity of drilling operations in areas that have been deemed as being particularly environmentally sensitive.

Solutions

As well as CTS, Enhanced Drilling is known for the EC-Drill® Managed Pressure Drilling system and service, RMR® Riserless Mud Recovery and MPC Managed Pressure Cementing.

Enhanced Drilling, which is headquartered just outside of Bergen, changed its name from AGR Enhanced Drilling in April last year. The move came following a legal
de-merger from AGR Group in 2013.
